Top 5 Christmas Markets Across Canada

The fall has flown by and we’re already less than a month away from Christmas! After having a not-so-festive season last year due to the pandemic, we’re eager to get back to celebrating and enjoying all the magic the holidays bring. Why not check out some of the best Christmas Markets in Canada for all your shopping needs or just a fun day out exploring your backyard?

Christkindl Market of Kitchener

For over 20 years the Kitchener community has hosted the traditional German Christkindl Market! Packed with activities for the whole family and a wide variety of vendors. You’ll find bands, walking tours, skating, performances, food stalls and more. The market has also worked alongside Make-A-Wish Canada raising funds for the organization through various initiatives. This year a portion of the sales from their Christkindl-in-a-Box will be donated!

The market is open December 5th-8th.

Got Craft Vancouver

Known to many as Vancouver’s largest independent craft fair this is one you don’t want to miss! What makes this market super unique is that not only do they have over 80 local vendors but they also have “kid-vendors”, a selection of local entrepreneurs aged five to thirteen. We love the idea of supporting young creative minds! The Got Craft market has been running since 2007 and has become bigger and better every year.

The market is open December 18th – 19th.

Montreal Christmas Village

Montreal hosts several Christmas markets every year but one we think stands out is put on by local non-profit La Lutinerie and is held in the Quartier Des Spectacles. This festival is a celebration of everything Montreal with culinary treats, performances and of course tons of local vendors. We also love that this market runs into January, so even if all your Holiday shopping is all done you can still enjoy a fun night out supporting local businesses.

The market is open November 29th – January 2nd.

The Toronto Christmas Market

Toronto’s famous Distillery District is revamping their market after missing out last year due to the pandemic. This year’s event will be called The Toronto Winter Village and although the name has changed, your favourite elements will still be there! A mix of vendors, tons of food stalls, light shows and more. Toronto-natives and tourists alike will be happy to see this local favourite back in action!

The market is open November 18th- December 31st

Quebec City German Christmas Market

Another traditional German Market, held in the heart of Old Quebec. Get a taste of Europe without flying across an ocean! Find classic German treats like bratwurst and gingerbread or sample Quebec favourites like homemade maple syrups and meat pies. This year’s event will also have brand new multimedia presentations for the whole family to enjoy.

Open November 25th – December 23rd
